The Blue Lotus
I've had this car a few years and in that time I amassed a huge number of photos from
the various track events, autox, and photo shoots with import models.
I knew owning a sports car would be fun, but I had no idea how many experiences would follow. Here are the highlights.
This car was designed for high performance driving, not comfort. The engineers at
Lotus are so obsessed with light weight that they use plastic screws wherever
possible, the composite material of the body is just thick enough to withstand the
force of air particles hitting it, and the interior is mostly stripped down to the
bare aluminum frame. All sorts of mechanical noises emanate from the engine bay a
few inches behind your head, making the stereo useless. However the exhaust note
has a nice ring to it ...or maybe that's the ringing in my ears.
It is built for one purpose and does it very well: To be fun to drive on a track.
An Elise is like a swiss army knife, if a swiss army knife had only one extremely
sharp blade. This car has faced countless grueling autox and track events, ate up
the asphalt, and eagerly asked for a second helping without fail. I have found
other creative uses for it, though.
With it's exotic looks, the Elise can also be quite photogenic, so it naturally fits in with exotic models. Through various photo projects, it has proven itself as a performer, on and off the track!
Good times. My older blog posts are in the Archive.
