Liquid Love Liquid Love

Liquid Love was drawn with a dip pen and india ink with candle light in a dark room. I was in a strange mood at the time, so it is difficult to repeat the style. Afterward it was modified digitally to get the look it now has. Order Print

Fertile Folklore Fertile Folklore

A world of mystical creatures awaits you in this nature fantasy painting from early 2010. I created this for a friend who produced a folk band. The design was sketched out while listening to their whole portfolio of music. It was fun and awakened a lot of creativity. Order Print

Moment Of Decay Moment Of Decay

A little horror never hurt anyone. This was just a random drawing pulled from my sketchbook. Depicted here is the flesh falling off of an ancient humanoid creature.

SF Japan Night SF Japan Night

I created this illustration as a promotional flyer for SF Japan Night. Six start-up companies from Japan competed for top prizes. The art was designed to give a fun, inviting feel. Notice the six cartoon characters arriving by boat, greeted by an Android and iPhone caricature.

Skyfaces Skyfaces

This illustration was an evolution on a theme I had been sketching out for a while. I wanted to show two heads in profile, sharing the same face. It shifts figure and background focus to show that we all share the same spirit.

Signature 2011 Signature 2011

2011 started with a signature illustration. I usually sign art with my pseudonym, Yves along with the date. This time I made my signature into art, going all-out with a detailed vector illustration. It is densely layered with an insane number of shapes to create the final look.

Dominator Culture Dominator Culture

I pulled this drawing from my 2004 sketchbook, noticing it fits Eisler's concept of the dominator culture. Primitive people survive by dominating the world around them. As a society evolves, we reject those old ways in favor of a more egalitarian culture. Order Print

Demonic Demonic

Here is an older illustration. I was planning a calendar but never quite finished enough drawings for all the months. My skills were limited at the time, and so was my computer. Back then it was all my Mac could handle, but looking at it now it's barely HD!

Bonded Bonded

I came across this while sorting through my old files, and decided she was worth resurrecting. The character was colored, but it was pretty low resolution, so I had to re-paint most of it. Order Print

Blood Babe Blood Babe

This was created for the 2010 site grunge header, starting out with a saw blade made with vectors, combined with a female profile line art from my sketch book. Order Print

Buyco Buyco

Buyco illustrates the life of a typical person in the modern world. People see more advertising than ever. Whether watching TV, surfing the net, or driving down the highway, we are bombarded with a steady stream of messages designed to turn us all into consumers. Order Print

Culture Is Not Your Friend Culture Is Not Your Friend

Here is a bit of abstract expressionism in vector form. I came up with this while listening to a talk given by Terence McKenna. He liked to say, "Culture is not your friend" when explaining how cultural norms limit the rights of individuals. Order Print

Deep Meditation Deep Meditation

This started out as a much simpler concept relating the almond shape of eyes, UFO's, and fungi. The plan was to have a progressive transformation from top to bottom, but it grew into a much more colorful, in-depth illustration.

A Thought Is Born A Thought Is Born

A variation on the Bonded illustration. There were some neat shapes on the layer below the Bonded character. Order Print

Line Art

Star Power Star Power

More fun on a flight. This drawing was pretty random, not planned out except for the little robot guys. I had been toying around with their look on sticky notes prior to this.

Self Portrait One Self Portrait One

Another drawing to pass the time during a long plane ride. This one came together quickly, and is sort of a self portrait. I love putting down random lines, and discovering what it is forming. In this method, every drawing is a surprise!

Ribbit Ribbit

Drawing on a long flight to Asia, this one started as a face but branched out to frogs and tadpoles. This kind of drawing is so much fun because each one is a pleasant surprise. It's the free association method of drawing.

Conduit Conduit

This is from a flight from SF to Cleveland. I usually use pencil so I can cautiously sketch before committing to lines and shapes. Using pen directly on paper forced me to slow down. Perfect for a long flight.
